FINDING NEW AND MEANINGFUL WAYS TO CONNECT WITH A BRAND AUDIENCE

THE CHALLENGE /
Millennial super fans and a rising wave of Gen Z enthusiasts remain deeply obsessed with Princess Mononoke, a film that continues to inspire awe, creativity, and emotional connection decades after its release. This audience is actively seeking new, meaningful ways to engage with the story worlds they love, beyond just rewatching the film.

THE STRATEGY /
In recent years, branded collaborations have become predictable, often reduced to surface-level logo-slaps that lack authenticity, storytelling, and purpose. Consumers see through the gimmicks. This collaboration represents a first: the Princess Mononoke universe has never officially partnered with a brand before, making the stakes and the opportunity, unprecedented. So how do we position Levi’s® as the first and only authentic way to experience Princess Mononoke off screen? By speaking directly to OG Millennials and Gen Z superfans who want to deepen their connection to the film by offering them more than just merch, an immersive, soulful journey that awakens their inner forest spirit. Through thoughtful design and rich storytelling, Levi’s® brings the lush, evocative world of Princess Mononoke to life in a way that’s never been done before.

THE BIG IDEA / AWAKEN YOUR INNER FOREST SPIRIT
To bring the Princess Mononoke universe to life through Levi’s®, we built a campaign rooted in reverence, artistry, and immersive storytelling. The creative platform: Awaken Your Inner Forest Spirit invited fans to reconnect with nature, emotion, and myth through a modern yet deeply respectful lens. Rather than leaning on predictable tropes, the campaign took an adventurous, artistic path, adoring hand-drawn textures, mossy design details, and ambient, transportive storytelling.Princess Mononoke is more than a film.

It’s a cultural touchstone with breathtaking visuals, a timeless story, and a fiercely devoted global fan base. To honor that legacy, we developed a 360° campaign designed for both the OGs and the new generation of fans, one that acts as an authentic homage to the film’s physical and emotional landscapes. Using light and darkness as a visual metaphor, we immersed consumers and products into the lush, mystical world of Princess Mononoke. The campaign was shot deep within an old-growth forest in Oregon, evoking the imagery, emotion, and soundscape of ancient trees, whispering spirits, and grassy meadows. The result was an intentionally ambiguous and atmospheric visual language, one that mirrors the film’s open-ended, poetic conclusion and invites fans to interpret the story for themselves.

CAMPAIGN ECOSYSTEM /
The work came to life through a thoughtful, customer-centric omni-channel strategy. We activated across Levi.com, the Levi’s® app, select DTC retail doors, social channels, and targeted paid media—ensuring fans could connect with the campaign wherever they were, and however they preferred to experience the brand.

THE RESULTS /
→ Brand Halo: Levi’s® reached a new, culturally passionate audience.
→ First-ever licensed collaboration for Princess Mononoke Franchise.
→ Sold out globally within hours of launch across Levi.com and select stores.
→ High conversion rates from campaign storytelling to product purchase.
