Overview
How can we ensure technology serves humanity rather than undermines it?
Omidyar Network (ON), the US philanthropic organisation founded by Pierre and Pam Omidyar, asked us to create a brand identity that reflects their mission to embed humanity into our digital future. With nearly $2 billion invested, ON is one of the world’s largest philanthropic funds dedicated to guiding technological progress towards collective power, prosperity and possibility.
The Brief
Our brief was to create an identity that embodied ON’s belief in collective progress. It needed to celebrate collaboration, responsible innovation and shared achievement while feeling optimistic, confident and human. The challenge was to bring warmth and emotion into a field often defined by technology and policy, crafting a visual and verbal language that would make ON’s mission both distinctive and deeply relatable.
The Outcome
We designed a distinctive wordmark and emblem that symbolise unity and strength. Moving away from traditional philanthropic design codes, we developed a dynamic identity system inspired by genuine human interaction, highlighting the vital relationship between people and technology. The typographic pairing of Feijoa Medium and F37 Lineca balances human warmth with forward-looking precision, expressing ON’s belief in a more equitable digital future.
A vibrant, human-centred colour palette replaces corporate neutrality with optimism and inclusivity. Real-world photography captures authentic moments of connection, grounding ON’s mission in lived experience. Together, these elements create a brand that reflects ON’s conviction that technology’s future must be shaped by collective human effort for shared progress and lasting societal good.
